Weekend in Albany
Ani and I went to Albany/Saratoga this weekend. It was really fun, so here are some highlights.
The racetrack at Saratoga is really nice. I wish I knew how to bet on horses. We just picked two horses in each race and bet $2 on each. So we lost 8 bucks, not so bad. One of our horses in the second race came around the home stretch in first place but then faded. It was really exciting. We had lunch/dinner at Dennys. It was a first for both of us. I cannot recommend the meat bowl more! Our hotel was a little crappy, but it was cheap. It had free parking, breakfast on Saturday and did the job. All of the soda machines were broken. I so needed a Dew on Friday night. We went to Giants training camp on Saturday morning at UAlbany. The crowd went nuts every time Shockey caught a ball. Shockey, and Barber looked great out there. It looks like the Giants have the wrong Manning. He has no arm strength. When Jesse Palmer tossed & passed he had real zip on them. We went to a a nice mall, and picked up some stuff. We paid a .25 cent toll on the Thruway like eight times. We had lunch at the gayest sounding restaurant in Albany "The Albany Pump Station". We had lunch with one of Ani's bloggy friends, her husband and their son. The conversation and food was good. Empire Plaza is really neatly designed. We headed over to Dave and Holly's place, they really got it looking great. Holly had a bad back, we hung out and played Trivial Pursuit on the xbox, very fun. We went out to dinner with Dave, Holly and two of Dave's old roommates. Indian food rocks! One of the people we had dinner with, lives in Japan and was a member of the Anti-Niel web page. It's weird to meet someone who you have heard about second hand over the years. We played some card games and drank. Dave, Holly, Ani and I had breakfast in this bizarre little dinner. Dave came into Queens with us. I'm checking out Podcasts right now ... they are weird.
