I know it has been out for a while but I finally got to see Creed. Let me tell you this, it was easily one of the top three Rocky movies. Like The Force Awakens it rhymes with the original movie in a lot of ways, but like TFA it is telling its own story.

It was superbly acted, Michael B Jordan was so good and has come a long way from being that skinny kid on The Wire. Sylvester Stallone was so deserving of the Golden Globe he recently won for this movie. His portrayal of Rocky was as real and genuine as it was in Rocky and Rocky II. Both men had such great chemistry with each other, their instant bond felt real.

The idea of chasing a ghost of a father who wasn't there hits very close to home for me and it was dealt with in a real way. When Adonis acknowledged that he realizes that Apollo didn't leave him on purpose. I nearly lost it. That is a breakthrough that I have not gotten to yet, despite the best efforts of various therapists over the years.

The fight choreography and direction was really good and they used lots of great new angles while shooting the boxing scenes. They looked very fresh.

If you haven't gotten a chance to see Creed, by all means do.
